What to Expect

Have you ever wanted to learn how to rope but didn’t know where to start?

This Intro to Roping Workshop is designed specifically for riders who are brand new to roping. In this relaxed and supportive learning environment, we’ll break down the fundamentals step-by-step so you can build confidence and understanding before ever roping from horseback.

This is a people-only workshop, so no horses are required. Participants will learn and practice from the ground using dummies and other objects to develop feel, timing, and coordination. Whether you're completely new to roping or looking to build skills for trail classes or everyday horsemanship, this workshop will give you a solid foundation.

What You'll Learn

During this workshop we will cover:

  • Introduction to the different types and styles of ropes

  • Overview of common roping styles and where they are used

  • Proper rope handling and basic fundamentals

  • Several foundational roping shots

  • How to begin preparing your horse to be roped off of, including desensitizing concepts and strategies you can practice at home

  • Practical ways to continue practicing safely and confidently

Participants will practice roping dummies, barrels, chairs, and similar objects from the ground in a low-pressure learning environment.
