About Dr. JoAnn Johnson

Meet JoAnn
Dr. JoAnn Johnson is a seasoned veterinarian with over 25 years of experience, having graduated from Cornell University Veterinary School. She spent the majority of her career focusing exclusively on equines, first as an associate veterinarian and later as the owner of Frontier Equine Clinic in Buffalo, NY. In 2024, JoAnn partially retired but remains active in the field, particularly with chiropractic work, where she continues to help horses and owners through her specialized care.
A lifelong horse enthusiast, JoAnn currently competes in Reining and Ranch Riding at local, national, and world levels. Her dedication has led to two world championships and numerous club and regional Reining titles.
JoAnn is known for her practical approach to equine care, offering valuable advice on managing critical care and first aid situations, while also focusing on proactive measures to prevent them. Bring your questions—JoAnn is ready to share her expertise and don't be surprised to hear some conventional wisdom challenged.

- When to Call a Vet (and When to Manage Yourself): Gain confidence in knowing when it's time to call for professional help and when you can handle situations on your own.
- Applying Bandages: Learn how to properly apply bandages to treat wounds and injuries, a vital skill for any horse owner.
- Colics & Eye Injuries: We’ll cover how to recognize and manage colic symptoms and eye injuries—two of the most common equine health concerns.
- Your Questions & Topics: This workshop is interactive, so bring your own questions and concerns. We’ll leave time to dive into topics that are most relevant to you and your horses.
